Motivation. It's something we all need heaps of in order to get in the gym and get the results we want. No transformation comes easy, but without motivation it's impossible. If you struggle to build motivation or find it comes and goes in waves, this blog might be able to help. Here's 3 tips to stay motivated to train... 1. Reassess your goals While huge ambitious goals seem desirable, in reality, they can be overwhelming for a lot of people. If you're trying to achieve something that seems to be way out of your reach, rather than motivate you, it can end up making you feel like nothing you do will be enough. You feel exhausted before you even start. Instead, break your goal up into milestones. These are smaller goals that will help you make progress and encourage you to take action to meet your small goals. Eventually, you'll smash all your small goals until you reach your main goal. There's nothing wrong with massive goals and you can achieve them - just one step at a time. Patience and consistency are also just as important as motivation. 2. Focus on how good you'll feel Working out is weird. It's something we don't want to do yet once we've done it, it feels AMAZING! Everyone's goal is determined by how it will make them look and feel, so w hen you feel like crap and really can't be bothered to get in the gym, remember how it feels to be fit, strong and healthy. The only workout you'll ever regret is the one you didn't do. 3. Be brutally honest with yourself Being honest with yourself can often be the wake up call you need to get motivated. Everyone needs a reality check every now and then and although it can seem negative, sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. Ask yourself, "Do I really want to feel like this forever?" , " Do I really want to look like this?" , " Do I really think so poorly of myself that I'm going to neglect my health?" - and if the answer's no, that should be all the motivation you need. Look in the mirror everyday and be brutally honest with yourself. You only have one life and one body to live in. It's not all about being the biggest guy in the room or the girl with the best body, it's about feeling good in yourself and living a long and healthy life. 4. Get the right trainer or programme Sometimes, the reason we lack motivation is because we simply don't know where to start. If this is you or if you're not getting results from your workouts, it might be time to find a trainer or a programme that can help. Working out with the guidance from a trainer or a programme holds you accountable for your actions. It also means you're more likely to smash your goals and transform your life - especially on days where you feel like you can't.
